general mechanical troubleshooting

All electrical work must be performed by a certified electrician

Before proceeding with troubleshooting, check the following:

  • Water level (must be at least 3” above skimmer opening)
  • Filters have been cleaned with a proper filter clean solution within the last 3 weeks.
  • Turn off GFI, wait 2 minutes and then turn it back on

K.I.S (Keep it simple) – Check the easiest solutions first

Symptom: No Heat (Tub not going to set temp.)
Pull filter (see if light comes on), if so... Replace filter
Knife valves not fully open, if so... Open knife valves
Pressure switch out of calibration, if so... Adjust pressure switch
Faulty Pressure Switch, if so... Replace pressure switch
Air leak, check pump suction line, if so... Tighten pump union
Heating element corroded, if so... Replace element
Faulty control panel, if so... Replace panel

Symptom: ‘FLO’ Error message
Pressure switch out of calibration, if so... Adjust pressure switch
Faulty pressure switch, if so... Replace pressure switch

Symptom: Poor jet pressure / No air to jets
Individual jets off, if so... Turn on (counterclockwise)
Individual jets not tight in housing, if so... Ensure all jets are tight
Knife valves not fully open, if so... Open knife valves
Air leak check pump suction line, if so... Tighten pump union
Check all jet o-rings, if so... Replace damaged o-rings
Impeller separated from shaft, if so... Replace impeller & re seal

Symptom: Tub water too hot / High limit tripped / OH or SN
Temperature sensor not bottomed out in well, if so... Push sensor in further
Tub water too hot from ambient heat of pump, if so... Shorten filter cycles
Faulty circuit board, if so... Replace board
Faulty control panel, if so... Replace panel
Faulty sensor, if so... Replace sensor set

Symptom: GFI tripping
Improper installation, size wire, or GFI, if so... Rewire to electrical specs
Wet equipment (Ozone), if so... Dry equipment
Ground fault in heater (dry operation or corrosion), if so... Replace element
Faulty GFI, if so... Electrician to replace GFI

Symptom: Functions not working
Reset GFI... GFI–off-wait 10 min. –on
Panel is locked, if so... Unlock panel
Faulty control panel, if so... Replace panel
Faulty circuit board, if so... Replace board

Symptom: Temperature fluctuating (More than 2-3 F)
Sensor well exposed, if so... Insulate well
Faulty sensors, if so... Replace sensor set

Symptom: Individual jets wont turn off
Jets sticky / dry, if so... Clean & relubricate Debris jammed inside of jet, if so... Clean internal

Symptom: Pump not operating correctly
Air lock on start up, if so... Purge air out of pump
Purge valve open, if so... Close purge valve
Pump suctions plugged, if so... Clean suction
Burnt out fuse, if so... Replace fuse
Pump thermal over load, if so... Require better venting
Hi-Lo reversed, if so... Reverse Hi-Lo wires on pump
Pump cord, if so... Replace cord
Faulty pump, if so... Replace pump
Faulty control panel, if so... Replace panel

Symptom: No digital read out
Control panel unplugged or loose, if so... Plug in panel
Burnt out fuse, if so... Replace fuse
Faulty control panel, if so... Replace panel

Debris in impeller, if so... Clean impeller
UV bulb / ozone chip burnt out, if so... Replace bulb

Symptom: Water loss or wet spot
Water level to high, if so... Lower water level
Jet not tight in housing, if so... Check and tighten all jets
Loose plumbing connection, if so... Tighten unions
Faulty pump seal, if so... Re-seal pump

Symptom: Tub making strange noises
Water level to high, if so... Lower water level
Jet not tight in housing, if so... Check and tighten all jets
Loose plumbing connection, if so... Tighten unions
Faulty pump seal, if so... Re-seal pump

Symptom: Cover seams coming apart
PH too low – Acidic water, if so... Raise PH to 7.5
Sanitizer too high – Corrosive, if so... Lower sanitation level
Cover lifter on center seam, if so... Reinforce center seam
Cover is a water logged, if so... Replace foam insert
